PERSONALITY

✶ indomitable will; Carol Danvers is a brilliant and fiercely independent woman with a strong personality, and we do mean strong. She's very much her own woman, her own hero and the only person she needs to approve of her choices. She's headstrong in her path, always looking to better herself for herself. She pursues her goals and dreams to the fullest, battling her way through any adversity and allowing nothing to get in her way. That being said, a lot of the time Carol gets in her own way. Either with her own issues regarding her capabilities or the obstacles she creates with her ethics.

✶ feminist icon; from her youngest, Carol was shoe horned into a specific type by her father, it didn't really work out for her. She's constantly pushed past gender stereotypes to be the best she could be, often times better than the males around her; she's smarter than people give her credit for, often labelling her a blond bombshell but not factoring in how she progressed to where she is. Carol will fight for the rights of little boys and girls everywhere to dismiss the gender roles that people are pushed into. She's especially vocal of her ability to lead just as capably as any man, refusing to let her gender limit her in any way.

✶ dragon hearted girl; at her core, Carol is a woman willing to die for what she believes in, but she has the determination to live through it. She'll push herself to the extremes of her ability just to make sure her friends and team mates make it out in one piece, she loves so fiercely that no life lost is acceptable to her. Which does extend to her own; Carol would die for the cause, but she knows it takes more conviction to live for it. Carol relies very heavily on the friendships she's made through the years, taking strength in her every day life to keep fighting forward in her superhero one. It's especially hard when those friends can be the trauma that comes with the life they choose to live.

✶ actual cinnamon roll; underneath the strong, determined and career driven woman is a heart of gold. Carol is dependable and loyal to a fault, happy to give up her time for her friends and go the extra mile for those she cares about. She can be nice and friendly to most, but threaten any of her friends and the fierceness of the self-made superheroine will be unleashed without hesitation. She's a giant dork about a lot of things; Star Wars, cop shows, silly romance novels, her cat.

✶ cosmic chaos; with her binary powers fully unlocked, Carol has the power of a large star. She can sustain herself in space without problems like lack air or gravity, it's also pretty easy for her to overload her powers pretty heavily when she's emotional or in a big battle, the more she pushes herself the higher her power leak becomes to the point of going 'binary', which is a cosmic overload of abilities.

THIS SECTION CONTAINS TORTURE, PERCIEVED RAPE, ALCOHOLISM & PTSD
✶ traumatic superhero life; the life of a superhero is often a turbulent one, facing villains and their plots doesn't always mean everyone is going to come out in one piece. Even prior to obtaining super powers, Carol was a determined professional, and one of the best pilot with the air force. During a mission Carol's plane went down in enemy territory, where she was subsequently captured and tortured. Her determination and resolve led to her escaping despite a broken leg and arm, having used her own injury to overpower her captor and make it to a CIA safe house.

The scars from this event are both mental and physical, although Carol's biological alterations now make it near impossible for her to be tortured in the same way but the triggers that exist in her psyche still exist due to her method of just soldiering through rather than seeking assistance for the trauma.

Carol also faced mental manipulation by the being calling itself 'Marcus', she was manipulating into believing he and she were in love, and impregnated during the manipulation where her mind was not her own. Marcus took her to his home in Limbo where she gave birth to an altered version of Marcus who aged at an accelerated rate. Carol was able to use Marcus' time travelling powers against him and escape, but the marks of the experience lingered, along with the fact that her team mates and friends couldn't tell that she was being used and puppeted.

Shortly after that came the battle with Rogue; still reeling from her emotional upheaval with Marcus, Carol found herself caught up in Mystique's schemes and ultimately lost almost all of her psyche to Rogue's misadventure which left her comatosed for a period before the X-Men and Charles Xavier managed to help her reclaim her memories. But through that, Carol didn't have the same emotional connection she once had for those portions of her life.

Ultimately, Carol turned to alcohol to feel something, and with a physiology like hers it took a lot. It's a battle she still faces, but with the help of Tony Stark, who was adamant that he wouldn't fail Carol like he had when Carol last needed her team mates. This resulted in a firm bond between the pair who each had their own demons to battle in their bid to steer clear of alcohol.

HISTORY

Carol Danvers Wiki 616

✶ while Carol's been able to reassert many of her relationships with people, it's difficult to fully remember just how those experiences she remembers actually shaped her emotional connection with people. Between losing her emotional connection when Rogue absorbed much of her psyche and losing a portion of her memories when her lesion caused significant brain damage, Carol's mind is a mess of what she does and does not remember. To this effect, Carol sometimes works twice as hard to remember and connect with people.

✶ Carol's relationship with her family is extremely complex; even as a superhero her father wasn't accepting of her choices, considering her to have shirked her responsibilities for fleeting 'importance'. The lack of support often leaves Carol battling old demons, but her own stubbornness plays into her recovery, refusing to let her father or his ghost affect her capability to be the best she can be.

✶ During her low points, Carol often feels rather down that her career has come at the expense on her personal life. Complications with connections aside, she can't remember if she's ever felt a kind of love she believed could last fully and completely. Her relationships have always felt like they come with an expiration date; either faced with death, a break down in the bond or differing wants from life. At this point of things, she's a little concerned it's going to just be her and her cat for the rest of their lives. Which wouldn't be terrible, she doesn't need to find love, she knows this. But she occasionally has little moments of doubt.

✶ For periods of time, Carol likes to fly from the atmosphere and float in space for a while. It helps her clear her mind, offering perspective on a lot of things happening at any time. Space is quiet and peaceful, and Carol finds her life is seldom either of these things. It also allows her the view of earth from above, something she treasures being able to do still following the momentary scare about not being able to fly again. Carol's sense of freedom, purpose and her tenure as a superhero are very much tied to her powers, she battles with the notion that she is who she is today because of those powers, the possibility that she might have lost it all because of her brain lesion still haunts her and clouds some of her decisions.

✶ Sometimes, Carol can struggle with certain aspects of being a hero. Aspects like forgiving former enemies who turn over a new leaf, like accepting no one is without fault, like defeat. Carol tries her hardest to be as understanding as possible about people on the wrong path, people who can see that they've followed the wrong people or got caught up in something much too big. But there are aspects where it's hard to move past. Carol forgave Jessica instantly for the trouble caused while she was kidnapped and Veranke was running around impersonating her, she accepted that Wanda had lost control of her powers and her psyche and was trying to fix things, but Carol still battles with accepting Rogue's shift from villain to hero, especially with her involvement with the X-Men. Carol can't fully trust Charles because of this, as it was all kept from her, rather than trusting her.

SKILLS

Carol's powers were originally derived from those of the original Captain Marvel, though they have since diverged and increased to become uniquely her own, due to being a unique Kree/human genetic hybrid, Carol also possesses the potential to wield vast cosmic power.

✶ Super Strength: Carol possesses superhuman strength that easily out matches that of any normal human and most superheroes. Carol was shown easily lifting and hurling cars and tanks, tearing through five-inch steel with her bare hands, and shattering reinforced concrete with her fists.

She can lift 75 tons under normal conditions, under extreme circumstances Carol has shown the ability to reach class-100 strength levels for brief periods. She has also shown an ability to achieve class-100 strength if she has absorbed a great deal of external energy.

Recent tests have shown that Danvers' base strength level is still increasing. Even when not augmented by any additional energy, Carol can now lift 92 tons and strike with a similar level of force, and has been theorized that this is likely not her limit.

✶ Super Speed: Carol has the ability move at supersonic speeds, making her literally too fast for the human eye to follow. She can achieve speeds of at least Mach-3 during atmospheric flight and has shown the ability to hit even greater velocities when the need arises.

✶ Super Agility: Carol possesses great superhuman agility and reflexes to compliment her superhuman speed. She can perform acrobatic feats far beyond that of the finest human athlete and easily evade bullet-speed projectiles.

✶ Super Stamina: Carol can exert herself at maximum effort for up to 24 hours before tiring. Regularly, Carol can push herself long past normal human standards of endurance, possessing the will and power to single handedly hold back enemy forces to await back up if needed.

✶ Flight: As previously mentioned, Carol can fly at speeds of at least Mach-3 in the atmosphere. She is a highly agile flier and can turn on a dime in mid-air, even while travelling at great velocity. Since she is also a talented and highly-trained fighter pilot, Carol's advanced knowledge of flight mechanics and aerial combat allows her to easily outmanoeuvre most opponents in the air.

✶ Invulnerability: Danvers is impervious to most forms of damage and can absorb a tremendous amount of punishment without injury. She can survive unharmed in the cold vacuum of space. She is bullet-proof and such attacks merely bounce off her skin on contact. More powerful attacks such as rockets, mortar shells, and bombs are only slightly more effectual, due to the fact that she can absorb their explosive energy. She is unfazed by blows delivered from opponents weaker than her and can withstand blows even by those who are stronger, though continuous and repeated hits by opponents of such great strength can eventually wear her down. She is also impervious to most forms of energy attack, and in fact such attacks can make her stronger.

✶ Energy Absorption: Carol has the ability to absorb a wide variety of energy and utilize it to further augment her own super-strength, speed, invulnerability, energy projection, and other powers. Extremely high-energy attacks may eventually overload Carol's absorbing ability, but she has shown that she can absorb and utilize energy up to the magnitude of a nuclear explosion. Carol has also shown an ability to absorb magical energy (though not without consequence).

✶ Energy Projection: Carol can generate extremely powerful photon blasts, which are roughly equal in force to Iron Man's full-strength repulsor blasts. If she has absorbed a great amount of energy, Carol can generate even stronger energy blasts.

✶ Regeneration: In the event that Carol suffers an attack that is actually powerful enough to overload both her invulnerability and her energy absorption power, she possesses a super-healing factor and is able to quickly regenerate from almost any injury. Her healing rate is accelerated even further if she is able to absorb and utilize external energy to aid in the process. She has fully recovered from nuclear explosions and attacks of similar magnitude in a matter of hours.

✶ Danger Sense: One of Ms. Marvel's original powers was a precognitive sense, called her "seventh sense," which allowed her to subconsciously recognize danger before it occurred. It was this sense that triggered her early transformations from Carol Danvers to Ms. Marvel. Her seventh sense also allowed her to subconsciously predict an opponent's attacks before they made them, greatly enhancing her fighting and tactical prowess in battle.

This power has been lost following Rogue's absorption of Carol's powers, as it is a subconscious power, Carol is as yet uncertain if it lies dormant due to her muddled memories and feelings.

✶ Minor Molecular Control: Carol possesses a limited degree of molecular control, which she can use to transform regular clothing into her Ms. Marvel costume and vice versa. This power works almost instantaneously, and has the effect of changing her from Carol Danvers to Ms. Marvel in the blink of an eye.

Apart from her powers, Danvers possesses many other skills and abilities that she developed on her own. Her advanced military training along with her Kree warrior skills naturally makes her a very dangerous hand-to-hand fighter. When used in combination with her many superhuman powers, she becomes a truly formidable adversary. Carol has developed highly advanced espionage skills, including infiltration, surveillance, interrogation, and disguise. Travelling around the world as an intelligence agent she learned to speak several other languages, such as German and Japanese, as if they were her first language.

After her time in the Air Force she became a renowned fighter pilot and is also skilled at flying aircraft and spacecraft built by the Kree. Her advanced flying knowledge is used to great effect when fighting enemies in the air.

Because Carol's genetic structure was merged with Captain Mar-Vell's by the Kree Psyche-Magnitron, she has intimate knowledge of all aspects of the Kree race, including their language, culture, customs, politics, and technology.

A more artistic ability Carol possesses is her writing talent. She had been a freelance journalist for some time and was also a magazine editor in New York.
